Movers & Shakers: Basis Industrial boosts C-suite

In South Florida’s latest hiring news, Delray Beach-based Basis Industrial made two executive appointments, promoting Anthony Scavo to CEO and managing partner and appointing Nisha Patel as chief operating officer.

Scavo has served as a senior managing partner at Basis Industrial since 2021.

Scavo previously served as the managing director of construction and development at Red Apple Group. Before that, he spent 25 years as a senior managing partner with LeFrak.

Patel was previously COO at Levin Management Corporation. She also served as head of asset management and dispositions at Essential Properties Realty Trust and spent more than 10 years at PGIM Real Estate.

Coral Gables-based Codina Partners also made an executive hire with the appointment of Juan Martinez as chief financial officer.

Martinez previously spent more than two decades at John S. and James L. Knight Foundation where he held positions as vice president, CFO and treasurer and managed an over $2.6 billion investment portfolio, the release said.

Debbie Tackett has been named director of the Miami Beach Planning Department after her predecessor, Thomas Mooney, retired this month. Tackett has more than 20 years of experience with the city, a news release reported. She previously served as Miami Beach’s chief historic preservation and architecture officer as well as its preservation and design manager.

Her appointment was unanimously accepted by the Miami Beach City Commission, according to the release.

Ben Bruner has joined Colliers as senior vice president in South Florida. Bruner has more than 15 years of experience advising investors, occupiers and property owners across the industrial, office and retail sectors, completing more than $500 million in lease and sale transactions, according to a new release. His expertise includes tenant representation, site selection and investment sales.

Before joining Colliers, Bruner was president of the Bruner Group, a West Palm Beach-based commercial real estate firm he established in 2019. He also held roles as director and COO at Nationwide Industrial Real Estate, according to LinkedIn. Burner is based out of Boca Raton.

Elliot Lee has joined Cervera Real Estate, where he will serve as assistant director of sales for The Residences at 1428 Brickell, an ultra-luxury tower in Miami. Lee brings more than 15 years of experience with over $350 million in career sales, according to a news release. He previously served as sales director for 888 Brickell, the Dolce & Gabbana Residences.

He’s also worked on sales for various developments, including The Residences at Mandarin Oriental, The Estates at Acqualina, Waldorf Astoria Hotel & Residences Miami and Baccarat Residences Miami, the release said. Lee previously was the director of luxury sales at Douglas Elliman Real Estate, according to LinkedIn. He is the founder and CEO of Lina & Elliot Group.

Nick Janovsky is now director of luxury sales for Tampa, St. Petersburg and the Gulf Beaches for Serhant. Janovsky specializes in waterfront estates, new developments, investment properties and executive relocations, according to a news release.

He has over $250 million in career sales and was ranked as a top producer at Premier Sotheby’s International Realty’s St. Petersburg office five years in a row. He was also named as 1744 Club Top 100 Producer. Before joining Serhant, Janovsky led The Nick Janovsky Group at Premier Sotheby’s. He’s also the founder and director of Strategic Campaigns LLC.
